7 Steps that kick my new month routine into action

A new month always brings a new perspective for most people. Don’t get me wrong, almost nothing tops a new year but I believe it’s safe to say that a new month also has its propitiousness and one of the advantages is that it reaches quite faster than a new year. Different people have different ways of planning for a new month. Some even don’t. They just decide to wing it and see where fate leads them.

We all know that it’s different for everyone. Some might have had a previous rough month so they walk into a new month hoping it’s better than the last. Some might have hit it off with the previous month therefore may not want things to change or if they do, then into a better one than before. I guess the common thing we all want is better. Better vibes, better intentions, better focus, etc.

Regardless, everyone has their own style when it comes to welcoming and planning for a new month. Allow me to shed some light on mine. I can’t say that I really plan it but rather subconsciously find myself doing it.

  1. Stretch

Yap, you read it right. The first thing I’m likely to do is stretch. Not sure if this should be counted but obviously I’d notice it’s a new month in the morning right after waking up. Like every other morning, the most natural thing to do is to stretch. I’m no exception so chances are, I’ll just stretch (and yawn most likely), breath, and take in some of that beautiful new month morning air.

  1. Praying

The second thing I’m likely to do at the beginning of a new month is to just take some time and pray. I believe it’s important to give thanks for having seen another month through and request the opportunity to also see through the next. I also make it a bit personalized by giving thanks to personal objectives and for the new month to hold even greater things in store, health-wise focuses goals, and many others.

  1. Formal Commitments

I usually take a look at the calendar in order to mark out dates I have formal commitments such as business meetings or exam dates. I might also set reminders of them on my phone or pen them down on my journal so as to not risking forgetting them and to adequately prepare for them.

  1. Birthdays

The second thing I look for on the calendar at the start of every month is birthdays. I mark out the birthdays of my friends and family. Wouldn’t want anyone upset with me for forgetting to wish them a happy birthday. This also helps me in choosing birthday gifts as its easier identifying whose birthday a particular day will be and what such people would like as their birthday gift according to their personality.

  1. Holidays

Seems the calendar has a lot of work in the new month. Another thing I do with the calendar is to identify holidays. With so many plans on the way, it’s important to put time aside for rest. Kickback, relax, and have some ‘me time’. I mark out national and international holidays (thank God for those). Then I select randomly for my own personal holidays.

NB: I use different colors when marking formal commitments, birthdays, and holidays.

  1. Other objectives

Here, I make mental notes on other goals I may be having for the month. For example, monitoring my calorie and water intake to make sure I have enough or set a target for the number of steps I’d love to take for each day of the month in order to keep fit or plan for coffee dates and hangouts with the girls.

  1. Take Breakfast

It’s likely that on a new month I’d wake up feeling motivated. In turn, this results in me going the extra mile when it comes to preparing my breakfast. I’m more likely to prepare something special from the norm, before or after finishing my other normal morning day routines.

It should be noted that at times I may not complete all my commitments as planned since the future is always unknown therefore I may have to make adjustments. And as I said before, it is different for everyone so feel free to leave on the comment section what your new month routine is like. Personally I opted to let you in on mine particularly in this new month as it is also my birthday month. Yay for Cancers!!
